There is More Than one way to get there

Funny thing, the simplest things can make you think and can speak volumes in your life. Today I was on my way to bring my youngest daughter to the doctor for her check up. I decided to take a different route to get there, immediately the questions started...where are we going mommy? We are going to the doctor for your check up,a reply that I thought would settle the discussion. No such luck ~ Why do we have to go this way? She insisted.

In life we get so used to doing something one way, or always traveling the same route that wer forget that there is always more than one way to get the job done or reach your destination. The same is true about your road to success!

It doesn't really matter how you get there just as long as you do. needless to say my answer to my daughter is one that I give to you. There is more than one way to get there, so begin to explore other avenues and roads less traveled. You will find a fresh new out look and even some things you never knew existed. So dont get stuck in monotony, if you've been trying at something for a while and its not yielding the results you desired maybe just maybe it's time to drive a different way.

Don't Let The Media Craze Take Over Your Kids!

Media has taken on a life of its own with the advancement of technology it has become ever so social in its own right!  With internet all over the place phones are making so much easier to connect, we’ve got IPod this and Ipad that and don’t forget the little green Android guy.    They are all ways and means of connecting and being social and getting in touch with the world around us and all of its elements. 

Our youth have access to social media sights such as Facebook, MySpace, twitter, YouTube, and the hundreds of others that are out there and they are ok in within certain boundaries.  They people to connect with family and friends and even make friends from parts of the world we may never be able to visit.  We can learn about different cultures and customs from food to dress to native music the world becomes our classroom, and that is great a wonderful.  However just as our young ones can soak up all of this goodness there are some messages that are inappropriate for them at certain ages and quite frankly for my age as well.  So we have to moderate what media mediums we allow are children to access.  Television has changed over the years in some ways for the good and in some ways for the bad.  They have added a lot of programming that act as a learning tool for younger children who are daycare to I would say about 1^st grade such as the nick jr channel teaching educational lessons as well as social lessons and Disney kids and the like.

 On the other side of the token some of the programming on TV is very loose profanity is common place, an increase on screen nudity and sexual provocativeness.  Even on Disney the other day  kept hearing my kids talk about this new show they just had to watch called my babysitter is a vampire, I am very subjective about what I allow my kids to watch on TV because of the message that it sends, so just by the name I told them no.  So I was sick this week and they were all in my bed with me and the begged to watch it and I gave in so I could see what it was about and after I watched it I was so appalled at Disney for feeding such (excuse my French) “crap” to kids it was ridiculous.  My oldest daughter was calling her younger sister to come and do something and the little one said she is such an “evil witch” ….hold up put the brakes on!  That show immediately got banned from their watch list. 

Even with the radio you have to be careful about the music that they listen to because they all send messages that influence people, some good messages and some bad so you have to do your due diligence and weed out the bad stuff.

With the social media my oldest child has a Facebook page and my husband and I have the password we check it quite frequently to make sure things are on the up and up and anything that isn’t we quickly question it and put it in check.

So the word of the day here when it comes to media outlets is to monitor what is coming across to your young one, be vigilant and understand that not everything is age appropriate.  I’ve seen some kids who are in the second grade with Facebook pages, and my question is why?  There is eschoolfriends.com which is a social networking site where kids that age can socialize in a safe environment and it is geared for that demographic and has educational games and all kind of cool stuff that is age appropriate.  Media is a great way to socialize and connect and learn but it is our duty as adults as parents to regulate what goes into our young ones.  I remember one year where MySpace was all a craze and some of the kids at the church had MySpace pages and when Pastor realized some of the things that were happening on MySpace he had all of the kids including his own shut their pages down.  Saying that to say, that we all have a responsibility to monitor the media messages that we allow ourselves and our young ones to be exposed to.

Hello World :)

I know it seems so cliche but, sometimes you just have to embrace life and say hello world, my name is... and I am so pleased to meet you.  I am going to have a great day week, month year and life period.  I will be stopping by to remind you of that fact quite often, so no matter what comes my way I am prepared for it all because I am rooting for the home team which just happens to be me and so with that I just wanted to say Hello World:-)

No Regrets!!!!!!

It's taken some time but I have learned often the hard way that hindsight is 20/20. In which you can see things much clearer after they have passed you by or you've had time to sit back and reflect. Regret is something that comes up far too frequent in life. Regret for having done something, regret for not having done something, regret for this and regret for that. One thing we should never regret in life is Life itself.  Of course there are situations and predicaments that we found ourselves in and looking back we wondered how did I let that happen? I can't believe I was a part of that!  But the reality of it is, that it made you who your are today.  Your life's experience's are unique even if someone went through something similar to what you did, it's still not quite the same.  It belongs to you, now what you choose to do with it is a whole other story.  Regardless, you shouldn't have any regrets about the paths that you have chosen to take.  Regrets hold you back from moving forward and experiencing life the way you desire to.  


I was talking to an old friend the other day and they were going over all of the bad decisions that they had made in life which seemed to have outweighed the good ones.  After talking to them I began to ponder all of the what if's and even though the road that they traveled wanted to count them out of life's race.  Regret is the brick wall that would allow them to go no more.  So even if we are able to answer the what if's in life, we still  can't go back and change anything about it.  The only thing we can do is thank God for a clear mind and a chance to move on.


On the other hand you shouldn't set your self up for a future possible regret, sounds crazy hunh!  Well, what I am trying to say is that regret goes both ways and you should have neither!  You should never hold yourself back from doing something, taking a risk and stepping out and experiencing life and living your passion.  Maybe you've wanted to dance with the prestigious dancers of the Alvin Ailey group, or open your own dance studio for that matter, there is no time like the present!.  Okay, so traveling across the world engaging is different cultures has a been a dream of yours, what's stopping you?.  Remember when you used to hook all of your girls hair up and the compliments would come flooding in and you said I'm going to open my own salon, where did you say it was located again; cause I need a hook up?  Oh, wait I know last week when the boss and your co-workers almost got the best of you and all you could think about was getting your business up and running, why are you still sitting behind that desk?  Don't let the dreams and desires you have for life turn into regrets of the future, go after them, reach them and embrace them!  Live life with no REGRETS!

Success Leaves Clues...

Have you ever heard that saying?  Success leaves clues.  You may have been wondering what exactly does that mean? Or, what clues does it leave?  Probably an even greater question that has crossed your mind is, if it's leaving clues all over the place why can't I find it?  Well, the truth is it does leave clues and they are really not hard to find if you are looking for them. Everyone has the potential to be successful!, Now any one who knows me know my theory on the "potential" of things.  Potential energy is stagnant energy, until it is activated it doesn't do anything.  The same theory applies to success, you won't achieve it until you do something to get it.

1.First and foremost: so is a man, or woman, girl or boy as he thinketh, You have to believe that you are successful and capable of achieving great levels of it , if you fill yourself with negative banter about your inabilities and how many times you've failed your fate has been sealed by your own thoughts about you!  Think success and begin to act upon it otherwise it won't come to you.

2. Follow people who are positive and successful, catch the pattern and grab some cues (where do you think the clues come from?)  Successful people leave a paper trail jam packed with awesome nuggets of how they got to where they are.  Maybe it's the books they read, the networks they belong to, the people they surround themselves with, to how they embrace setbacks as a launching pad to doing it bigger and better the next time.  They don't have to be successful at the same things you want to be successful in the only prerequisite here is that they've found, you guessed it success!

3.Personal development is ever so important to walking into your success, take the time to prepare yourself for what ever it is you want to do.  Study to show thyself approved...!  Take the time to cultivate your knowledge base of what you want to find success in.  The more PD you do the more clues you will find as well.

4.Finally be motivated nothing is going to jump into your lap while you are sitting of the edge of your chair with your hands on your head while doing the whoa is me sob.  Get up and do something go outside and get inspired, attend a few seminars, do some volunteer work there is nothing more inspiring and motivational as serving others without seeking a personal gain.  The gain is in the serving it becomes a muse and opens you up to energy that you never knew you had.  There is something so profound about helping others get to a point of success in their life and the beautiful thing about it is that your own success will come by default.

Now you've got a starting point, so go find those clues apply them and begin to map the  road to your own success in life and remember to leave some clues along the way so someone else can follow them.

When You Fall Off, Get Back On!

See what we need to understand throughout life is that when you are doing something that is beneficial to life and helps to build you up and make you a better you, we tend to fall off and get a little lazy and inconsistent.  But we have got to get back in there and pick up where we left off.  Jump back on the saddle and continue to ride.  Ever notice how easy it is to continue a bad habit without even giving it a second thought.  Like smoking a cigarette no one has to remind us to go get a smoke, but we need to be reminded to take our vitamins everyday.  Things that are good for us take effort and self nurturing in order to embed them in our consciousness.   But if you fall off, don’t be ashamed we’ve all been there but be one of the few to get back on!

Turn the power on!

Press your power button and get it going, only you have the ability to press your power burn and turn on some things in your life!  Have you ever wanted to write a book?….Press Power!  Have you ever wanted to lose some weight?…Press Power!  Have you ever wanted to start a business?  What are you waiting for?…Press power! Is a Master’s Degree in Life Science on of your goals to achieve?… Press Power! Always knew you could preach, got ministry on the inside of you?  Press Power!  What ever It is you have the power to make It happen!  Did you press the stop button on life and your dreams or worse did you allow someone else to dictate what you can and cannot do and press it for you?  The time is now to rekindle those flames and make your dreams become a reality.  Don’t wait for the triplets Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda to come beating down your door.  Press your own Power Start Button and don’t stop get it, get it!

Don't Let Anyone Pink Slip your Prosperity...

Usually when we hear the word prosperity, financial or monetary gain immediately comes to mind.  But prosperity comes in many forms.  We should strive to be prosperous in our health, our relationships, our spirituality, in education and so much more including financially.  The thing is we often gauge our successes based on what other peoples standards are and we shouldn’t.  We are all individuals with different degrees of satisfaction.
